Bodybuilding Magazine Mischief

hey, ive been bodybuilding for about a year and a half now and hve stuck to diet and protein supplements and have got good results so far.i recently have been reading musclemag and have heard about hydroxycut.so i bought xyience exelerate , its he same thing what will this do for me will i loose the mass ive worked so hard for or will i become leaner and more defined as said in articles - Jerrod

You have to understand that supplement articles in mainstream bodybuilding magazines are not really articles, they are advertisements. Musclemag is owned by Bob Kennedy who is a major player at Muscle Tech (makers of Hydroxycut). These magazines, like all magazines, make the bulk of their money off advertising, not off the price of the magazine. In the case of the bodybuilding magazines, the advertisements are supplements. Most of these mags are directly owned by supplement companies.

They write articles based on quack science and bogus studies (studies lacking control groups which can be made to say anything). Their goal is to get you to spend money on high profit margin supplements, not on providing you a reliable information source. And they are effective. But it is a dirty practice.

Believing anything you read in a bodybuilding magazine is just going to drain your wallet and increase your frustration.

Hydroxycut was once a powerful supplement as it contained ephederine. Now it does not and does not have anywhere near the same abilities. It and similar supplements may reduce your appetite and speed up your metabolism (through the caffeine they contain), but they are not going to be dramatic difference makers.

You will lose your mass if you drop your diet too low. Drop it just a bit below your maintenance level and place your emphasis on burning the fat through cardio work. Set your goals at losing between 1-2 pounds per week - losing weight faster will likely mean you are losing too much muscle.

Keep your focus where it has been, on your dieting and training practices. That is where the results are. Do not let the supplement companies' marketing trap you into wasting money.

You can take XLR8 if you wish but it won't be responsible for your success or failure. The role it will play will be minor.
